Lodmundarfjördur
I wasn’t feeling top fit, so we decided not to do the planned peak, but to go and explore the remote passes and fjords south of Borgafjordur. A thick fog came in up to 300m, but it was sunny on top. Found a great spot to brew a tea and eat biscuits, then headed down to Lodmundarfjördur. It is abandoned as a farming community since the church closed in 1973. There is a fab touring club hut and little campsite run by volunteers, we left all our camping stuff at Borgafjordur, so couldn’t stay. Had a hike up the river, and series of spectacular waterfalls. Lots of blueberries or bilberries growing here, and lots of heather.
