Waffle Iron Repair

The two little screws at the top of the picture are supposed to attach the handle to the waffle iron itself.  Over time they stripped out the plastic they were embedded in and the handle became wobbly.  I've tried a couple different ways to repair it but without luck so far.  The repairs will hold the screws but the mastics keep letting go of the sides -  and then turning in the hole, screw and all.
   Next I'll fry putting the whole thing together with wet glue and clamping it in place.  I will know in the morning if it worked.  Until then, fingers crossed.
