The Forest Of Bachnagairn
Was up in Glen Clova with the mountaineering club and decided to have a wander up Jock's road with Colin Craig and then swing round to the south to Mayar and Dreish and then head down Corrie Fee. On the way up we met fellow club member and legendary stravaiger Jim McKenna and we decided on another plan. We headed up Jock's Road and had a brief food stop at Davy's bourach before rounding Cairn Lunkard and heading northeast over the Craigs of Loch Esk, skirting the Den of Altduthrie and the Glittering Skellies before descending into the forest of Bachnagairn. Visibility was poor as we navigated across the whited out plateau before finding the forest..... and beautiful it was too. Kind of Nordic.... or Narnia.... or Middle Earth.
We then walked out beneath the towering crags of Juanjorge, Moulnie Craig, The Strone, Broom Hill, Dog Hillock and through Moulzie. No fawns, elves or hobbits were encountered on the walk out.
Evening capped off with a fine steak, hoppy ale and some right good chat beside a wood fire.
