Leeds old and new Day 7: Kirkstall Abbey
A pretty wet day in Leeds but I couldn't end my theme this week without a trip to the beautiful Kirkstall Abbey. Founded in c.1152 when the monks arrived in Kirkstall it was disestablished under the auspices of Henry VIII and has been open to the public since 1895.
We have been to some great events here over the years - Shakespeare plays, Kaiser Chiefs gig, Kirkstall Festival and the monthly farmers deli market. A great bit of history on our doorstep!
