The year of the snake
I was surprised at how many Chinese things I found at home to make a blip for Chinese New Year. There are even more, but they spoilt the arrangement!
Normous visited China in 1979. He went to Beijing when it was still Peking and was only just being opened up to foreign visitors. He was there on business and was well entertained and taken to all the special sights, the Summer Palace, The Great Wall and the Ming Tombs. He says there were hardly any cars but millions of bicycles. The Chinese, still dressed in their blue or green overalls, had seen very few Europeans, and Normous, standing at 6 ft 4 ins, was such a rare sight that they followed him in wonderment down the street.
So now we greet the Year of the Snake! A happy new year to all blippers!
