Seemly ruin
All that remains of Mormond Kirk, is the Laird's Aisle with its attractively curving entrance stair. The kirk was built around 1620 by Thomas Fraser. The lower part of the Aisle would have been a burial vault and the Laird's pew would have been above it.
The Aisle was, aledgedly, used to lock up prisoners at one period in its long history.
The extra shows what must be one of the most unusual gravestones in Scotland - a blacksmith's grindstone reputedly carried to the Kirkyard by his Widow in 1770.
