healing
Working at the cafe today - and this week our young people are back for the first time since the middle of March. Some of them have hardly left the house at all during that time so this was a big step for them. At first they were quite anxious, but by the end of the day most of them were already getting quite proficient at the new way of working. It was brilliant to see their confidence returning.
After work I paid a visit to my favourite charity shop - Oxfam Books and Music in Dumfries. If you look very carefully, you can see me in this photo, wearing my mask. I'm still finding that it a little nerve wracking to visit different shops, but this was a very pleasant experience, as always.
Not so good was the news when I reached home that Sarah had been knocked off her bike by a car outside the hospital after coming off night shift. I spoke to her on the phone for a long time and she kept saying she was ok, but has a broken ankle, a black eye, stitches in her chin and a very swollen face. Her helmet was broken in two places and for the second time in my life I am thankful for bike helmets. She was cheerful and not in any pain but obviously this is very upsetting and you always ask "what if..."
Now the healing begins.
