Wet Hotlips...

...  Few plants do really well in our northern environment, but I brought this tiny plant with us, from Oxfordshire, because it was given to me by a dear friend. It has thriven (which should be a word if it is not). So much so, that we have given it companions of 'amethyst lips' and 'cherry lips'.
All seem to like the soil here, and the bees like them. Win, win.
The image is not as sharp as I would have liked, as it was a rainy dash.

What a weird day we have had.
We rose with the dawn (almost) because the gas man was coming.
We had turned off the appliance yesterday (so no hot water, lovely).
At 11am the calendar was checked. Ah... NEXT Wednesday. Not today.
Attempted to re-light temperamental appliance, to no avail.
Made phone call. Could gas man possibly come before next Wednesday please? Apparently not. (Lovely man.. Not his fault).
We lay on the floor with matches stuck to skewers with sticky tape (innovative, if a bit dangerous?) and yay! We have warmpth again. (There is definitely a 'p' in warmpth, it's the old fashioned spelling. Like dampth).

Then we sat and waited for the call to say my car was fixed after it's stay in the garage. To no avail. They are keeping it for another night. (And now want to charge me for the part they have decided it needs...
No... It has not been useable since I picked it up from the (reputable) garage, some three weeks ago now. We'll see what tomorrow brings).

I'm reluctant to give up on it, it's perfect for me, AND it's the colour of the hot lips :-)
