Welcome to the year of the snake.

Another early start as the Sim party, augmented by WX and S, went to church for WH's baptism.

Then, pretty in red, it was on to the grandmother's for New Year's Day breakfast. The first meal of the new year has to be vegetarian and you have to eat 2 bowls of rice to ensure that you will continue to have food throughout the year.
There was much giving and receiving of ang pow. But no fireworks and no lion dance.

The traditions followed we came home and the kids played board games and the very active games on the tv. I joined in a few of them. I was rubbish!

I also had a swim and did some cross stitch. Others gradually slowed down, and had a sleep. A lazy New Year's Day.

Now, after MacSween's haggis, Australian neep and Chinese tatties some folk are going back across to watch Ireland v England. Green, not red, will be much in evidence.
