Davos Lake

As expected we awoke to rain this morning. With low clouds and constant drizzle we decided not to go on a hike but rather went around the mountain to Davos to walk around the lake. Davos seemed brighter and we had a lovely walk around the whole lake in dry conditions. There were a few canoeists on the water (see extra) and we saw one woman swimming, who then proceeded to get out, strip off naked and get dressed in front of passers by! That water would have been freezing cold. 

After our walk Gavin and I went into Davos to our favourite cafe, Kaffee Klatch, for coffee and a salad for lunch. We did not want go home just yet as Luke was writing a mock exam today that was being recorded as he was doing it online, and so could not have any noise or interruptions around him. Meriel was back at work today working from the apartment and Adam was also busy getting his report finished. The cafe was well prepared for the social distancing rules with some tables not in use and they had the prettiest screens between tables made of wood with windows in a Swiss Walser style..

After lunch we decided to drive up Fluela Pass which is one of the Grand Tour routes in Switzerland (it ranks 4th best) and was in one of the Top Gear episodes with Jeremy Clarkson racing along the winding hairpin roads. We went up the pass to find the start of a certain hike we want to do and wanted to check where it actually started. The landscape in the pass reminded me of the Scottish highlands. We passed a really small church on the pass that I have included in extras.

Later in the afternoon we went and had a socially distanced tea with friends outside in their garden, and it was lovely to see them again. Luckily the clouds had now lifted and the sun came out again. 

Tommy arrives today after his holiday in Greece - we are looking forward to seeing him again.

And I guess there are going to be a glut of A* results after the government's U turn on the A level and GCSE results which makes the results this year a bit of a joke - not fair for those who worked hard and do actually deserve their good results but then fair for those who missed out on their grades due to the algorithm applied. The whole thing is a terrible mess and I don't know how universities can have any confidence in these results.
