Brown Praying Mantis

I don't recall spotting a brown Praying Mantis before - they're usually green, as in one of my past blips.  If this one had been green, I probably wouldn't have spotted it in the butterfly bush.  That is contrary to one of the theories of brown vs green, which attributes the color to habitat.  This one seemed to follow me with its eyes, which I think was true, based on the curled tail response.  It must have considered me a predator.  No way - after photographing insects I've become a protector, although I was too late this morning to save the caterpillar that my grandson squeezed between his thumb and index finger :)
