Manchester and its Chinese community will today celebrate Chinese New Year: The year of the snake. For the 18,000 Chinese people living across the region it's the most important event on the calendar and will be marked with a street parade, fireworks, street stalls and performances. Manchester Chinatown is the second largest Chinatown in UK and one of the biggest in Europe. Within and around this area are lots of Chinese restaurants, supermarkets, shops and Chinese physicians. The archway is located at Faulkner Street and was a gift from China.
