Looks like they should be selling ice cream

Walking around the Sudbury Reservoir today in the drizzle. These buildings are in the process of being restored at considerable expense. Here is my bit of local historically trivia. Are you sitting comfortably?

Once the site of Deerfoot Farms and the first Jersey herd in North America, the  Burnett family later expanded from dairy into gourmet food (sausages) that were even favoured by President FDR. The owners also developed a way to extract and concentrate vanilla essence and made a fortune. This is the stone shop, where  stone was cut to build the mansion shown far right. The stone shop would later serve at the first location of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

Also, a cow from Deerfoot Farms went to the South Pole and back with explorer Admiral Richard Byrd in the 1930s. That was one lucky cow.

You are all impressed, I can tell.
