Snowdrop Street - Kirkdale
Yesterday at the birthday picnic, we got to talking about our roots. This all came about because of Bryony and Joel moving from Brighton to Liverpool where her Dad, me and Sue were brought up (Maghull). I did our family history on Ancestry.co.uk a few years back. I told them that Granddad and his family lived in Snowdrop St - No 8. Sam said she has a friend who lives on Pansy St, the next one along. I took a photo of the street map I bought when I was researching so they could see exactly where it is.
Tony - my brother - is in his element now, being able to visit their daughter, in the city he grew up in and loves. He is a great Beatles fan and a football fan and of course supports Liverpool.
I phoned Sue to wish her happy birthday - when I finally got through, as other people were also phoning her. She said she enjoyed yesterday and got some lovely art gifts, (she is a very talented artist). Our gift to her hasn't arrived yet even though it was express24 delivery! I can tell you now that it's what I won on ebay the other day. I had to tell her it's on its way. It is a 2nd hand sewing machine just like mine - a Husqvarna Freesia 425. It's an older model that was made in Sweden. I've had mine for 20 years. Because all the new machines on the market - including the one she's got - are difficult for her to use, having a problem with her right hand, and the presser foot lever is on the inside right, I'm hoping this one will be easier for her and she will be able to enjoy sewing again.
It's been mostly dry here today but a bit cooler, however now I can hear the rain battering down outside.
Off to bed now.
Goodnight :-) X
