Today I managed to get a look inside the silver birch I picked up earlier this week. Much of it is too far gone, nearer paper than wood, but I’m hoping to rescue a few bits for turning. Extra photo today - clearing out the loft. It might seem a bit strange but long ago we used to make puppets. They were large, wide-mouthed puppets & were used in schools, theatres, museums, police forces, churches, colleges, social services etc. We sent them all over the world. We have quite a bit of stock left over, including shoes! We used to buy them in bulk ..... folks thought we had a big family.
