What should have been....
Two weeks from now I, my mom and my sisters family should have been up at Sol Duc Hot Springs celebrating one of my dads favorite places but it wasn't meant to be this year.
A family member in Arizona tested positive for Covid-19, was hospitalized and now back at home recovering. My sisters husband had a high fever and few other things but thankfully tested negative for the virus. The hot springs is only open on a limited bases. No indoor dining, a limited time slot to swim, overcrowded trails and.. So with the rapidly approaching cancellation time approaching to get most of the money back, the decision was made not to go. For that weekend now we plan to do a day trip somewhere my dad would have liked to go.
These photos are taken from an old video cassette recorder, transferred to CD video and then a screenshot. Lousy quality but a precious memory and that is what counts. The main photo was my dad and I playing pool. In the extra you have the front of the resort, some of the pools in back, lunch at the lodge, a deer at Hurricane Ridge and a small waterfall along one of the many trails taken.
Life itself has risks, some we can avoid and some we can't. The most important though is not to take unnecessary risks while still making sure you don't postpone joy....
