Field of Dreams

City Park Edinburgh lately home of Spartans FC. When I was a pupil at nearby Ainslie Park High, a game at City Park was the zenith of your school footballing career.

In the day, it had a rather tidy wee stand which was later closed then condemned (the usual route to get shot of anything unusual/intersesting/different).

You used to be able to roam from City Park through walled gardens and ripped back sides of posh Ferry Road villas to Stewarts Melville's at Boswall Drive...a half mile of tumbledown wastelands...a great place to get your hands up a girls jumper and play at smoking.

There's a drive to save the park here I don't believe the park has any future as a footie pitch, but given its location next to the railway path I'd love to see it with a wee pond and left to go semi feral .
