The Day of the Triffids.

This Passion flower has been hacked back at least three times this year, yet it seems to be taking over our front door step again!

Dull drizzly day ALL day today. Walked dogs, cooked up tonights meal (chicken and chorizo dish), helped Jeff hang new blind in bathroom, now everyone down the road can't see me get out of the shower! Groomed dogs, Jodie and family called round, lovely to do some puzzles with the boys, and see the change in baby Louis - how fast time goes by, we feel like we've missed so much in these Covid times. Got to 6 o'clock and realised I'd not got a photo and I wanted to settle down with a glass of wine.

Today is the 75th anniversary of Victory over Japan day. I stood in silence for 2 minutes and thought of the sacrifices of those that paid the ultimate price. We have visited the cemetery at Kanchanaburi for those who died building the Burma railway. It broke my heart to read the ages of the poor boys, because that's what they were, who were buried there, so many of them were only -18 or 19. And I remember the saying 'There by the grace of God', because my father was in the air, on the way to Singapore when it fell to the Japanese. His flight was diverted mid air, and because of that, here I am.
