Day 145 It's Flower Friday!
The rain that arrived late last night was still with us for most of the morning in the form of on and off showers. When it left us, unfortunately the thick grey clouds stayed behind leaving the air warm and very humid. Mr MC decided that such a miserable day was best spent doing some extra cleaning in the kitchen, so we dealt with the dishwasher, by pulling it out and cleaning it and its surroundings, definitely a job that needed doing. Next we decided that the range style cooker needed dealing with. It sits in an old fireplace on a slightly raised base, so pulling it out means getting a special piece of old flooring to pull it onto. Once the cooker and tool rack were cleaned, Mr MC suggested that we should repaint the recess with gloss paint as the walls were looking rather shabby. By the evening several coats had gone on and it looks better already, although it will be Sunday before all coats are applied and the cooker can go back. Fortunately it still functions in its temporary position!
Today's flower offering isn't up to much I'm afraid. The greyness of the day meant that I've had to artificially introduce a sense of sunny lightness in my pic. Our alternative flower was with us today and was so good about our spending so much time occupied with the kitchen. I didn't even take any photos of her, but she won't mind.
Many thanks, as always, to BikerBear for her continued hosting.
In other news: the UK government has added France, The Netherlands, Malta, Turks & Caicos and Aruba to the list of countries that require 14 days quarantine in the UK when you return. This has caused rather a rush of folk returning hastily from France in order to beat the deadline. of 4am Saturday.
