A family day

The whole family - the Edinburgh and Lancaster contingents with 2 dogs - descended on my brother in law near Chorley. At leas t the M^, though busy, was flowing well.

We spent a lovely day in hot sunshine in the garden catching up and having a really delicious lunch prepared by our host. A walk in the nearby playing fields provided a break from pouring over family documents, records and photographs.

Amongst them was a single telephone directory for September and October 1940 which covered the whole of Sotland and Northern Ireland. We found relatives on both sides of the family. On my side was the father of my late relative (who would have been 95 today) at the address of the house we are in the process of selling; as well as my grandmother.

So many past memories evoked.

It is also a significant birthday for my sister in law. So we messaged and rang to wish her all the very best. We look forward to catching up with them early next week.

On our walk on a road we came across some cockerels that had escaped from a nearby farm: the blip is of one of them. And the weeds were ready to send tier seeds off - see extra.
