The bottomless toy box

... being thoroughly explored by Little Miss B, who arrived with her parents around midday today. The box I've been preparing since long before Covid-19 had been heard of, but this is our grand-daughter's first visit to her mum's parents' home. (It's a long way, and by the time she was big enough, along came Lockdown.) So it's great to have them here for a few days. They'd hired a motorhome bubble and visited friends en route during the week.

The box's contents include toys from her mum's and uncle's childhood and a number of cuddly toys. She's an amazing child. Despite being utterly tired, she would not sleep. By mid-afternoon, she and I were the only ones awake in the house, and played, and practised walking (hanging on to my fingers), and played some more. She's an utter delight.

When her parents woke up, we headed to the beach in very light drizzle and heavy cloud. But it's still really warm (and close). Her feet were dipped in the sea, and she loved it. Pointed at every gull she saw. Tried to eat the pebbly beach. She should be having sweet dreams tonight.

I'm amazed how relaxed she is. All this travelling, and new faces and places... she's such a cheerful little thing! I'm off to bed now, too. Sooo tired, but very happy.
