Rainy walk around Matara
Rory’s family are quite involved in a tree planting project at Matara, a sort of zen Buddhist garden (see incredibish blip for more). Tina was a bit put out that some saplings had died but honestly they’ve done a fantastic job coordinating the watering and planting with the Wotton Climate Action Group.
Something for everyone with a cotswold garden for mum to identify plants in and a spiritual labyrinth and Mabinogion statue for Dad.
Another highlight of today was a Skype call with Jacques Ecuadorian cousins who are keen to learn English from a native speaker. Eager to assist, I recruited Tina and Ellie who are learning Spanish to help me. It was just as well, and I think there is potential for it to be a nice exchange but there will certainly be some growing pains as everyone struggled to begin with. Kelly and Sheila (yes they don’t sound like Ecuadorian names do they ?!) are only 21 and 15 but they recognize the benefit of learning English and are keen to try at least.
Soph and I went to the pub in the evening, probably because that’s just what one does in the south west during corona to be outdoors socializing.
