V is for Vulture
A drive out into the country early Wednesday morning and what a peculiar sight I saw. First I saw three Turkey Vultures sitting in a tree with their wings spread, then the field opposite had 10 sitting on fence posts in all different positions. While taking photos, a truck pulled over and the guy yelled, "Is that normal???" lol
In the early mornings, vulturesoften will sit with their wings spread wide, increasing the surface area of their bodies so that the sun can more easily warm them. This is called the “horaltic pose”. I had just never witnessed it before.
...and that was Hump Day ;)
