Cheeky monkeys

We couldn’t have picked a worse day to go to the safari park. With temperatures soaring to nearly 40’c we had already booked and paid for it so off we went. Even arriving early it was already scorching in the sun and for the foot safari we managed to see some cheesed off penguins and a couple of porcupines. Anya and Andrew ‘swanned’ around on the lake for ten minutes before we escaped to the car with the air con on full blast.
The only trouble was we had underestimated how much diesel we would use and unfortunately the dash light showed zero as we drove through the lion enclosure! A few panicked words with one of the rangers and we had to gamble and drive out of the park to the nearest petrol station. Thankfully we made it but we hadn’t seen the kids favourites; the monkeys. All the hassle was worthwhile for their laughter and excitement at watching the monkeys destroy our roof bars :)
Exhausted by 1.30pm we drove back home and collapsed inside with all windows and doors closed to keep the heat out. What a day!
