There and back WHW day 3

A glorious day completing another chunk of the West Highland Way, on this occasion from Balmaha, where I left the car, to Rowardennan, and back which added up to just under 17 miles. The weather was perfect, slightly cooler than of late, overcast and then sunny just in time for lunch. So far this is my favourite bit, I loved being so close to the water nearly all the time and the possibility of swimming from one of the sandy, sometimes stony/shingly beaches. I didn't since I had left my swimming stuff in the car and as walked closer to Balmaha where I almost considered just going in in what I was wearing it began to get busier which put me off.
I barely saw a soul in the morning, although I did set off early having woken at 5 and left the almost empty car park at 7.30 - this was probably the best part of the day, although it was all spectacular.
keen to go back and look for pine martens later in the year - two highly energetic red squirrels spotted sporting in the tops of the #celticrainforest.
The blip was taken at the beach in Rowardennen, empty except for three girls cautiously wading/sort of swimming and a crew of seagulls. It was a tad too early for lunch so had half a sandwich and some coffee which did wonders for the first few sections of the return journey. There were many beach options for lunch, and most empty.
