Around the Rutland Round

Continuing our walk- today via the outskirts of stamford and this fine Norman arch in the church at Tickencote. We met a couple doing the whole Rutland Round as a 5 day moving on loop, and a solo lady, like us doing a series of day loops - we met her again towards the end of a very hot day and she was grateful for a water top up from us, as she’d got stuck and had to backtrack with a disappearing path.

The Norman arch in Tickencote church is very fine and full of fascinating and unexpected features, such as the border of bird’s beaks - see detail on extra.

We were grateful for cold beer on the patio when we got back.
