Misty moistyness - but spring is in the air
for the willows are beginning to colour up. Great day out with R. to visit Newark Park a NT property north east of Bristol - ostensibly to view the snowdrops and aconites - but the house was open too which was a bonus. There should have been fantastic views for this was a huge hunting lodge built on an escarpment with stone from a monastery dissolved by Henry v111 and given to one of his acolytes. The reception hall was on the ground floor with a large banqueting chamber above , sleeping accommodaton above that and a flat roof on top for the ladies to watch the hunting in the valley below. Now there are lots of trees which probably would obscure the view anyway but today even those were lost in thick fog. Better magnified
