Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Cattail Pond Arena on Day 11 of the AOG!
Today was the day all of the burrowing insects have been waiting for, the Deepest Burrow event was on the main stage and the spectators (masked and socially distanced) were going wild!  Despite the title, it's not only about the deepest burrow but style points are also awarded for tunnel design.  Each 10 member team was given 30 minutes.  Team Fire Ant were the strong favorites.  On the left are Antoine and Antoinette about to head back down for more depth and design work.  On the right, the whole team is shown.  Sadly, this photo was used as evidence that the Fire Ants had 12 athletes on the field.  The two in the upper right tried to argue that they were just walking by on their way to another event but, according to the rules, Team Fire Ant was disqualified.  A sad day for them and all their fans!

Besides reporting I have been quite busy the past few days catching up with people via phone and Zoom.  I am grateful to have all my friends and loved ones in close contact, even if we can't be together.  I'm also very grateful that my friend, Patty, is doing well (after the loss of her husband a few days ago).  She sounded good today. :-)

THIS JUST IN:  Dfb24's comment prompted an investigation.  Team "Fire Ant" is actually Team Harvester Ant.  They used an alias because they had been disqualified early in the games.  Cheaters never prosper because they were dq'd again!  And it turns out that there are no Fire Ants in Colorado!
