christmas rose

why the Hellebore Niger has been given the name Christmas Rose I have no idea as it tends to flower after Christmas and doesn't resemble a rose. (Well i dont think it does but I might be wrong ) Any ideas any one?

Mine is a very deep purple called black in the plant world.

Not the best shot as I was trying to watch the naughty Jasper and making sure he didnt escape the garden or knock husband off ladder.

My blip for today was going to be a shot over the ground floor of Tesco from the mezzanine floor but it didnt look as good as I had hoped. All this goes to prove that eye sees things so different to the camera. What you think is good the camera disagres!!! Perhaps had I used the canon it might have done. looked colourful but was blurred as I zoomed in. Leave that for another damp miserable day when ideas escape me.
