A good walk down the mountain

After last night's storm and rain, we woke to another hot and sunny day. We decided to get the gondola up the mountain and then back down again, so Gavin, Adam, Meriel and I (and Xena of course) left Luke working at the apartment and set off. 

Th only time you become aware of the Coronavirus here is on public transport when you have to wear a mask, but there were only about 10 people on the gondola all of us wearing masks so it certainly was not very busy.

It's a very steep walk down the mountainside - our walk was only about 5.5km but we descended from 2281m from the top where you step off the gondola to about 1630m to Wolfgang just above Davos. There were very scenic views along the way, and if you wish to see more of the walk you can see here.

We had lunch on the terrace of the hotel at Wolfgang, where we bumped into some friends of ours who have already been here for two weeks. They also live in the UK and were saying how they cannot get used to a largely Coronavirus free lifestyle that seems to happen here - my friend was queuing outside the bakery this morning and the person serving inside could not work out what she was doing!

After lunch Meriel and Gavin walked back but Adam and I decided to get the train back as he did not want to do any more downhill walking - the train would take us back tot he village and then it was an uphill walk to the apartment. The train was quite crowded (everyone wearing masks) and we were standing next to a woman who had eight children - all her own - about five of them looked to be under four years of age - yes we did the maths! 

Poor Luke had been working all day, having live lectures via zoom and then tonight he has some studying to do for his next round of mock exams which are weekly - the actual exam is at the end of the month. 

It was very hot and sunny again, but late this afternoon we had another storm with rain and even hail - the skies look so dramatic when the storms happen over the mountains.

I thought this tiny daisy could qualify for Tiny Tuesday, as it is very small against the background of the enormous mountains
