Tree Stump and Leaf

When it's raining (or sleet as it was today) there can be a beautiful soft quality to the light. So after a visit to the Garden Centre and armed with waterproofs, tripod and umbrella I ventured into the forest for a short photo walk.

Light levels were very low and many of the shots showed signs of movement even though the camera was mounted on the tripod. The large pixel count of the D800 shows up poor technique mercilessly. I spotted this leaf lying on an old tree stump ( no I didn't put it there) and after a little 'gardening' made the exposure.

After using the diminutive Olympus OMD on holiday and getting superb quality pictures I was surprised at how big and heavy the Nikon felt. If Olympus could make tiny 35mm cameras in the 1970s why can't manufacturers make full frame digital smaller?
