Back home

Bailey had assumed this position as soon as the car was unpacked and the doors and windows were open to try and get some air into the house. We had a straightforward journey and managed to be the right side of some significant delays. We passed this on the M62 when there was just white smoke and a driver out on the hard shoulder. Neither of us would have been happy to be at a standstill in the heat so we were lucky not to be five minutes later.

A few bits sorted in the house and then I left Bailey to it to do a supermarket visit. Home to have a late lunch and try and resurrect some of the plants that have clearly not enjoyed the heat. Most will revive and lots have grown significantly whilst I have been away, including the delphiniums. I've used the heat as an excuse not to do too much - including walking Bailey which hasn't happened until just before nine - but the grass will need to be cut tomorrow and I'm in work on Wednesday so we'll need to get back to a routine.
