R and R with corn
Another scorcher topping 34.6C. We’ve been packing up the flat in Fiesole as we move on after three years. Our next billet is down in the valley and nearer The Boss’ work venues. A quick trip in and out to water the blessed lemon trees and pick up the nearly last of our things.
Later watering after a siesta behind closed shutters. Even under the roof it stayed at just below 26C.
It’s such a relief when the teeth go out of the day. Beer and a sky free of the sun. The brief sweet corn season is ending.
The first Covid case in our valley has appeared since the lockdown. It seems the Covid infected are being offered places in Covid hotels so they can isolate from their families. The bastard’s definitely on the prowl, looking for weaknesses and sly opportunities. Some criticise italy for its fragmented health services. Others say this is a source of flexibility and on-the-ground innovation and responsiveness. It’s clearly a delicate balance between central agency and region, province and local mayors.
And the less-well resourced and stretched southern regions suffer although thankfully they have not born the terrible brunt of Italy’s life and death struggle with Covid.
It was good to get off the res today. More heat tomorrow.
