Gathering the Bales

I slept better last night but I was still awake quite early so I decided to book a swim at the Lido.  I checked online and it showed only 7 people there for the 7am session which was perfect.  It’s so handy having the pool so close to home and I got there at 7.15am which is fine as the sessions are an hour, so I had until 8am.

Alan was just getting up when I got home and he’d managed to book to go to his outdoor shooting club for the first time since lockdown so he headed off quite early.

I put the washing on, had my breakfast and then went for a walk across the fields - my intention was to recreate a photo from 10 years ago that had popped up in my memories, where I was sat on top of a hay bale.  However I couldn’t get on it and didn’t want to wreck the bale by trying to pull myself up and decided to wait until Alan got home.  I didn’t stay out long as it was so hot!  The forecast said it was 32 degrees but it felt much hotter than yesterday!

Alan got home about 1.30pm and he said the club was really well organised and it was nice shooting the targets in the woods where it felt cool, so he’ll try to book for next week too, but they only allow about 12 people so he’ll have to put his name down quickly.  He wanted to watch the F1 and when it finished we walked back to the hay bales.  I took a little folding step to stand on, but I still couldn’t climb up and Alan had to give me a leg up lol!  Anyway, I got the photo and I’ve added a collage of the two images to my extras, the top photo is from 08.08.10 and the bottom one was from today.

We didn’t stay out long as the heat was unbearable, and when we got back home Alan put up the parasol, brought the fan outside and got a spray bottle of water which he kept aiming into the fan so it acted like a water mist.  I then went and sat in the ‘cool’ tub which felt so refreshing - I hadn’t heated the tub up so it was set at 30 degrees.

After dinner we sat back outside and the temperature was so much nicer after the sun dropped, and there was an amazing sunset!  The farmer was busy collecting the bales and I was glad I’d managed to get my photos this afternoon, but even better, I liked the silhouette of him working against that red sky!
