Four In Hand Hotel

The Four in Hand, established 1878, was put up for sale a couple of years ago. Fear was it would go the way of the nearby Windsor Castle - bought by a developer, its licence transferred and the building converted to apartments. Locals protested, thousands signed a petition, neighbours draped ‘Save The Four’ banners from their balconies and set up stalls on the footpath. Today we walked there from the city for lunch. It’s still a beautiful pub.
