Obits

The obits in today’s Statesman Journal caught us off guard. Upper right is an old professor of mine, Dr. Charles Alva, from our Western Oregon University days. Fastidious dresser, a real Dapper Dan. Smart as a whip. I have a great story of him, but it’s too long for here. Doc Alva made it to 100 years. Great life.

The other is a friend and free spirit in the Salem area, Jim Lind, artist and bead shop owner in Salem. Jim was an iconic Salem figure. He had a booth at the Oregon Country Fair for years, in the proper spirit. Jim was a good guy.

Rest In Peace, gentlemen.
