As the sun sets I have to bring in the bird feeders. Those are the rules for neighborhoods that are frequented by bears. And I am a rule follower. But I admit, I was wondering if it was really necessary as the hummers especially like to fill up for the night.
Well early this morning (5 am), Laney got out of her dog bed and sat on me in bed. Very odd behavior for her. So I got up and let her out, and she immediately ran to the back where I was treated to the sight of a bear scurrying away. Yes, the feeders come in at sunset.
