Sad source

A neighbour’s brother died recently. Aged eighty-one, he’d survived a spell in hospital with the virus, and seemed to be well on the mend. It wasn’t to be, as another cause took him unexpectedly.
His funeral, observing the necessary restrictions, was yesterday. Now she has too many flowers to keep at home, so today she gave us these.
I didn’t know her brother, but the dreadful shock of his passing is all too obvious. Just one more sad event in this most extraordinary of years.
