Gareth is building us a base for a shed and unearthed this coin which in initial examination looks Roman. (see extras for the other side) Being so close to the Fosse Way, the longest Roman Road in Britain I suppose it is not too much of a stretch to the imagination for some Roman soldiers to have made camp near the River Windrush and to have dropped a coin when preparing to march the next day. We want to clean it but it is so thin I am a bit concerned about damaging it further so will do a bit of research on the best method. It is the size of a 5p or a dime.
