PNW AOG Day 7

The marina was the venue today for Team Gull competitions which was nice because the regular water venue is still slightly cruddy.  Anyway, here are Maude and Maxwell Gull just warming up for the pairs aerial competition.  After one false start due to a lost entrant wandering onto the course, the event was delayed by a few minutes.  The pair performed an almost flawless routine.  If Maxwell hadn't veered in the direction of a piece of bread on a rock, their score would have been perfect.  Maude was quick to give him a stern lecture, seen in Extra.

The next event was the four-gull relay.  The participants can be seen in Extra lining up.  Notorious for their short attention span, it took a few minutes for everyone to get situated for the start.  Once airborne, they performed a perfect routine and scored a 10, the first gull gold medal of the games.  Extra shows the Team Captain on the podium. The relay was followed by some solo exhibitions which delighted the crowd.  The gulls will resume their events later in the games.

PNW Stadium, mercifully, was the scene of heavy rains yesterday and this morning, improving the water quality just enough for Team Canada Goose to make an appearance.  There was a lot of honking as they flew over the venue, presumably a spirited discussion of what events should start, and when.  Hopefully, we'll hear more from them tomorrow.  

Team Osprey has apparently boycotted the games, at least for the moment.  The unfortunate water quality issue has upset them.  They claim they can't see the catfish through the crud, scum, algae that has formed, but they should be back to take a look now that the rain has improved the situation at bit.  

Your intrepid reporter was not so intrepid today having spent some time at the dentist.  Things will be better tomorrow I'm sure.
