Day 220/20. Army Air Corps Sioux XT-131

A visit to Middle Wallop today with a couple of friends. We were lucky in that the Historic Helicopters Flight were exercising a few of their helicopters, almost a private airshow.
This is the historic Augusta-Bell Sioux AH-1 (a Bell-47 in the USA). It is now owned by the Historic Aircraft Flight Trust. The first flight of the type was in 1965, making the design 55 years old. It is probably most famous for its appearence in the TV Series M*A*S*H.
The thumbs up from the pilot was a nice touch.... Second picture shows a more conventional view as it hover-taxied out.
