Whirling Dervish

In my early twenties we lived in Turkey, in Ankara for a year at first, transferring to Istanbul  after that. Still in Ankara we were given this pottery ornament of a whirling dervish and a companion flute player, the latter now broken. I never got to see them in reality though we did travel to Konya and lots of other places in the days before tourists.
