Local Knowledge

We do have a prom 
to promenade along
but there’s no pier here
and no show at the end of it
where stars of stage 
and screen appear.
But if we take our leave     
of the sea and move
a short distance inland
we see spectacular scenery
and when the popular star
of this particular spectacular,
the star at the very centre
of the solar system, 
shines through, 
we show our appreciation
by giving a standing
(there is no seating) ovation.
