Fishing at Caliach Point

It was a lovely morning so I went on a fishing trip with husband and friend A. The fishing was very successful and the boys caught lots of pollack, mackerel and coleys, especially of. Caliach Point off the north-west coast of Mull. (extra)

Caliach in Gaelic means old woman and the story goes that an old woman was gathering shellfish on the shore here when she got trapped by the tide and had to climb up the cliff to escape. When she got to the top she was turned to stone. The stone stood out clearly on Caliach Point until the late 1950s when it fell down in a storm.
