Lunch at the beach
No time for cycling this morning - JR went for a run and I took Archie to the vet for his kennel cough squirt-up-the-nose. In and out, though the vet had to carry him, he just refuses to go along the corridor.
We then went to Porty for a dog walk and to meet some of JR’s ex-colleagues for lunch. None of them looking forward going back to school next week! Luckily we set off in good time, because we met dozens and dozens (actually about 200) of empty buses, all honking their horns and causing traffic chaos, but at least we were going the opposite way. I checked on my phone, and yes, it was a protest by bus (coach) drivers, many of whom are facing ruin. Edinburgh at the moment should be full of tour buses, full of tourists.
Anyway, we got to the lunch venue after Archie had a bit of a runaround. We sat outside and most pleasant it was too. Porty early in the day is lovely, no Neds around - probably still sleeping. Though it looks empty here, by the time we left, it was mobbed. Lots of toddlers, families and folk swimming (the tide was miles out). Lots of folk eating at the many cafes. No wind! Mind you, I did spot a rowdy lot later, when we were having a coffee - they’d been drinking bubbly, and looked like they were going to kick off any time soon. We left before the trouble started. (Extra)
Back home, and JR went shopping - a big luncheon date (here) tomorrow. I cut the grass and ordered a proper hedge clipper, one that I don’t need to climb to the top of the wobbly ladder to use. Then I had a beer and sat out in the back garden. A perfect temperature, would have been too hot (for me) had the clouds not rolled in nicely.
JR is now making a pavlova for tomorrow. Yum yum. We have extended the table for the first time ever. We could not have done that in our old, smaller kitchen.
And we would have been flying home from Vancouver today... business class.
