Beach weather

One feature of this Scottish summer has been the accuracy of the weather forecasts. Each night’s prediction of further Atlantic fronts bringing more cloud and rain has proved to be completely correct! On video calls with my southern based colleagues I was envious of their blue skies and “tropical” attire!

In the afternoon we walked in the rain on the deserted beach to investigate the arrival of a “big wheel” on the promenade. It will be assembled on part of the site of the former marine Fun Park. It will be there for the rest of the month.

Later the devastating explosion in Beirut dominated the news. I have worked in this city on two occasions recently and we had planned a holiday there this spring. It is a remarkable country in a stunning location. I am greatly saddened by the impact of this explosion on a country that was already struggling greatly to regain its former style and eastern Mediterranean panache.
