and it turns out that tonight is 'Light Night' in Nottingham - a number of buildings illuminated, and various installations within the city centre lit up for the delight of the passer by... yesterday's blip now becomes clear... here it is in the foreground, it's a tunnel of pallets that people were walking through and around, lit up with glowing colours - in the background you can see the dome of the Council House in market square is lit with coloured light too ...

glad i found out what the pallets were for!
