Swift Catch

If you look carefully along the path through the barley field, you can just spot a swift that was diving across the grain to catch the insects in the air. I hadn't even seen it when I was taking the shot - only noticed it afterwards. They are so fast. 

The common swift is the fastest bird in level flight (not diving) at almost 70mph. And they can fly for 3 or 4 months without resting. In their migration, they fly about 400 miles in a day.
