Ward Hill, Hoy

Orkney has many 'Ward Hills', I think that they must have been beacon hills where fires would have been lit at times of danger (ward- observation ward, warden, warder etc). I have never been up to the top because I am very lazy, until today. Pretty windy up there and very variable light quality, but I was glad to have done it. The view is to the east and mainland Orkney. You can see Stromness in the distance
