Ilex

This large tree is an Ilex, a type of holly. There are a lot of them in our village - I'd never heard of them until I moved here. There is a whole avenue of them going eastwards along an old track and then down southwards to the sea. They are getting very old now and some have had to be felled, which is a shame.

I had a long chat with my Dad this afternoon. It's the third anniversary of my Mum's death today. He has a little holly tree planted at the end of his garden with her ashes under it.
